A Conversation with Senzerina’s Creative Director
What inspires you in jewelry? Why did you choose such a creative field? How has it affected you?
Creation for me is an obsession, a kind of compulsion. I have been doing this from a young age, I never sit idly by, every empty second is an opportunity for me to create, to think about my projects and to transmit beauty. I don't see my brand as a job, a chore, or a business in and of itself. I would say it's a transmission of passion.
Can you explain your creative process? How do you approach a new idea for a jewel?
As I have an airy and free spirit, my ideas arrive each time my gaze lands on an object or feel an emotion. Everything around me is poetic and I like to quickly transform it into a jewel. I also do other activities sometimes like writing or drawing to calm my mind and process new thoughts. All of my ideas are in my notebooks, I transcribed them all. I go freely to the sketch or sometimes directly to the creation. I feel full creative freedom when the material is in the palm of my hands.
Are you one of those artists who enjoys collecting objects?
Rare items have always been dear to me. I have been collecting gems and minerals since my childhood. I even had a nice little stamp collection when I was about 14 years old. And I am in my element in science and life museums. Curiosity cabinets fascinate me. Anything that I find quirky and unique, I pick up and find a place for it among my rarities.
What do you see as everyday luxury? What is your vision for the field?
To live in luxury, to love luxury is to appreciate rarity, quality, and elegance. I don't see luxury as an ostentatious expense but rather as an artistic method of appreciating oneself. Self-esteem also comes through the pieces we choose to wear to make us happy. Luxury is in a way a connection to beauty.
